Mission: To advance leadership, collaboration and knowledge among employers and other stakeholders to continuously improve the quality and cost effectiveness of health benefits, health care and the health and productivity of the community
The Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH) is a non-profit, Chicago-based 501(c)(3) business coalition comprised primarily of human resources and health benefits professionals from over 100 large, self-insured public and private employers as well as other health care stakeholders. Members represent over 3 million lives and spend more than $3 billion on health care benefits on an annual basis.
MBGH was founded in 1980 by a small group of large Midwest employers to help them obtain more value from their health care benefit dollars. Today, MBGH serves as one of the nation’s leading employer-focused coalitions and is a recognized leader in offering education, research and community-based activities that increase the value of health benefits and health care services. MBGH is a founding member of the National Business Coalition on Health.
MBGH provides powerful connections and vital health benefits solutions to employers through four primary activities:
Education: MBGH's primary educational vehicle, the Learning Network, offers high-quality programming and activities that foster collaboration and networking among members and other health care stakeholders. Programs provide the knowledge and experience of leading employers and industry experts.
Health Benefits Research: MBGH is a leader in examining, analyzing and reporting on the health benefits management activities of public and private employers and the impact on the health of their covered populations. Each year, the coalition conducts applied research initiatives designed to test innovative health benefit strategies, gauge their impact and identify solutions for barriers to success.
