Midwest Health Strategy Project

In April 2010, MBGH was one of five "Early Adopter' Coalitions awarded a grant from the National Business Coalition on Health to participate in a nationwide employer learning collaborative called the American Health Strategy Project (AHSP).

This collaborative guides an employer through a 30-month process improvement approach to actively examine their current health benefit designs and health management programs. It allows employers to bring together their internal and external processes by analyzing their health data
so they can develop or enhance their benefit design with value-based approaches.

The MBGH initiative, called the Midwest Health Strategy Project (MHSP), brought together 12 MBGH member employers in the Fall of 2010 to pilot the tools and resources created during the first round of the AHSP, the Kansas City Collaborative (KC2)*. All participating employers are currently going through the three AHSP Project Modules: Assessment, Implementation, and Outcomes. Project goals include creating evidence-based interventions that specifically affect participating employer benefit designs for 2012 and 2013.
