Learning Network
The MBGH Learning Network programs are the primary vehicle for fostering collaboration among members and for disseminating a wealth of collective knowledge and experience for the benefit of all members. Activities include:

Health Benefit Purchasing Groups
MBGH’s affiliate, the Midwest Health Purchasers Foundation (MHPF) offers Health Benefit Purchasing Groups to provide your organization with the opportunity to purchase health benefits and products as part of a powerful buying group. The MHPF product suite includes group purchasing programs for:

Health Benefits & Quality Initiatives
MBGH's Health Benefits & Quality Initiatives turn knowledge into action. MBGH develops and supports initiatives that test tools and improve community health care. Initiatives include:
- HPQ-Select, an employee self-report tool that analyzes the impact of chronic disease on productivity
- Taking Control of Your Health, a value-based benefit design project using waived co-pays and pharmacist counselors to improve compliance and
reduce costs of chronic care patients
- Serving as the HHS designated Community Leader for promoting transparency in the quality, safety and cost of health care and adoption of electronic medical records, by leading Illinois roll-out of the Leapfrog Group, an employer-led initiative advocating improved quality and safety in health facilities,as well as promoting the "Cornerstones" of value driven health care
- "Finding Doctors in Chicago," a study on what consumers want to know about their doctors
- "The Cost of Poor Quality, " a study on the costs of overuse, underuse and missuse in health care the purchaser's roles in addressing these problems
- "Readiness to Change" studies of employer adoption of "value-based" benefit strategies and employee reaction to those benefit incentives to change behavior

Joining MBGH - There are four membership categories:
- Business Member: A private employer that purchases health benefits for employees.
- Provider Member: A community-based employer whose primary business objective is the direct delivery of health/medical services and designates its benefits or human resource professionals as the primary contacts.
- Non Profit/Government Member: An academic, research, voluntary or governmental organization that does not provide direct health/medical products or services.
- Associate Member: An organization that provides direct health/medical products, services or consulting to businesses
that offer health benefits.
