CHICAGO – Dec. 6, 2016 – The Leapfrog Group announced today that ten Illinois have been named to its 2016 list of Top Hospitals, which honors the highest performing facilities on the Leapfrog Hospital Patient Safety Survey. The winning facilities will be officially recognized at Leapfrog’s Annual Meeting on December 6, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

“Today, more than ever, public and private health care benefits purchasers are looking at the quality, cost and outcomes of hospitals and physicians as they move to value-based benefit approaches,” said Larry Boress, Illinois Leapfrog leader and president and CEO of the Midwest Business Group on Health. “Such strategies often incorporate small networks of high quality hospitals, with employees incentivized to select these providers. Increasingly, employers are looking to The Leapfrog Group and its Top Hospitals to identify high- performing facilities.”

This year, 115 Top Hospitals are being honored. Of those, nine were recognized as Top Children’s Hospitals, 56 have been named Top General Hospitals, 21 were named Top Rural Hospitals, and 29 were named Top Teaching Hospitals.

In Illinois, the following hospitals were recipients of the Top Hospital Award:

The Top Hospital award is given to teaching, general, rural and children's hospitals that publicly report their performance through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and meet the high standards defined in the Top Hospitals Methodology.
