New Officers Elected to Midwest Business Group on Health Board; Larry Boress to Retire as President and CEO

CHICAGO – May 11, 2017 – The Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH), one of the nation's leading business groups of private and public employers, elected new officers for its Board of Directors. And President and CEO Larry Boress announced his plans to retire effective December 31, 2017.

 

“We thank Larry for his 26 years of service to MBGH and his leadership over the last 12 years as President and CEO,” said Thomas Sondergeld, Vice President Global Benefits & Mobility, Walgreens Boots Alliance, and MBGH Board Chair. He and his staff have grown MBGH into an organization known for truly understanding the needs of our members and collaboration with all business and health care stakeholders working to improve the value of health benefits and quality and safety of the health care system.”

 

A succession plan is in place and a new president and CEO will be announced in the next few months.

 

The newly elected officers of MBGH’s Board of Director are:

  • Vice Chair – Jason Parrott, Manager, Healthcare Strategy & Policy, The Boeing Company
  • Treasurer – Pamela Hannon, Director, US Benefits Practice Center, Abbott

 

The current Chair of the MBGH Board is Thomas Sondergeld and the current Secretary is Sandra Morris, Principal, About Quality Benefits Design.

 

Also, newly elected to the MBGH Board:

  • Darin Hinderman, US Healthcare Manager, Caterpillar
  • Lois Lourie, Vice President, Health & Welfare Benefits, AbbVie
  • Bonnie Toussiant, Director, Health Care Strategy, Target Corporation

 

Elected for a second term to the MBGH Board:

  • Linda Bloomer, Corporate Benefits Manager, Bemis Manufacturing
  • Kathleen Neal, Director, Integrated Health Care & Disability, FCA-Fiat Chrysler Automobiles

“This has been an incredible and life changing journey as MBGH has been my passion and provided me with opportunities, experiences and relationships I never could have envisioned when I first joined the organization in 1991,” said Larry Boress. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing board chairs and staff and take great pride in our efforts to elevate MBGH among the leaders of business coalitions and health care purchasers. The future is bright for MBGH and I look forward to watching their continued success as I remain active in health care, but at a more leisurely pace.”
