Today, we live in a world of competing priorities, cost and revenue pressures, regulatory requirements and uncertain political agendas. Employer-based insurance covers almost 56% of the U.S. population which means the private sector covers more people than Medicare and Medicaid combined. Key issues that continue to significantly impact employer costs in the health care system include overuse, underuse, inefficiency and waste.

Employers could have a great deal of power over health system reforms; they must use their market predominance to demand change. They need to break down the barriers that prevent employees and families from receiving the highest quality, most efficient and cost-effective care. They need to be actively involved in the design, management and evaluation of health benefits and serve as catalysts for change in the way that care is paid for and delivered.

Only by demanding high quality, evidenced-based care, price transparency and accountability of providers, plans, PBMs and vendors will employers achieve the change needed to reduce costs and inappropriate, unneeded care. Then and only then will they truly be able to improve the health and productivity of employees and families.

Learn from innovative employers and leading experts, how you can be a driving force and facilitator for change by advancing value in health care and health benefits.
