Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH), in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health, are reaching out to employers across the state of Illinois to offer access to no-cost resources and education on pre-diabetes and diabetes management to support their workplace efforts.

Diabetes has a significant economic impact on employers and employees alike. In the U.S., 1 in 5 health care dollars are spent caring for those with diabetes – for many employers, this condition is one of the mostly costly impacting healthcare spend. Add to this the indirect costs of lost productivity which can significantly add to an employer’s cost burden.

Addressing diabetes in the workplace doesn’t need to be costly, but it does need to be strategic. Working with leading health care purchasers, MBGH has developed a comprehensive toolkit, designed to ensure employers have access to knowledge, best practices and strategic action plans to address diabetes in the work environment.

You are invited to attend and learn about the free resources available through the Diabetes Management in the Workplace Toolkit during a complimentary webinar. MBGH member, The Boeing Company, will provide a first-hand perspective from Tara Sherman, Well Being Strategy Leader, who will share the impact that their Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) has had on reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes with their workforce through an evidence-based lifestyle change program.

This webinar will focus on steps an employer can take to:

  • Better understand diabetes risk within your covered population
  • Learn effective pre-diabetes and diabetes management strategies
  • Update benefit plan design to proactively impact coverage and treatment compliance
  • Develop communication campaigns to inform and engage employees
  • Evaluate and measure the impact of your diabetes interventions
