Event Description

The Wild, Wild West: Employers Leading the Charge in Finance & Coverage Options for Ultra-High-Cost Therapies.

Gallop on over for our annual Employer Forum on Pharmacy Benefits, Specialty Drugs & Biopharma, where we will explore how employers can address finance and coverage options and be better prepared to approach leadership about how they will pay for ultra-high-cost therapies for employees and family members. Learn how to educate your team, work with key stakeholders, gather helpful resources, and walk away with important learnings to help take control of costs – before they get ahead of you.

Attend this session to discover:

  • Legislative, legal, and regulatory updates that have direct or tangential impact on employer benefits, role as fiduciary, pharmacy costs, and drug availability
  • What fellow employers are doing to address ultra-high-cost therapies, including potential financial solutions
  • How curative and life-changing therapies require careful and strategic cost management and keen fiduciary oversight
  • Real-life examples of point solution providers offering innovation in managing these therapies
  • Overview of the near-future landscape for new therapies coming to market
  • Employer strategies to address cancer care with compassion and support while also lowering cost

See recent study highlights from Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI) on Balancing Advancement And Affordability of High-Cost Pharmacy Benefits

  • 33% of employers currently include cell and gene therapies (CGTs) in their benefit plans, while 58% of non-adopters are planning to implement CGT strategies in the next 24 months.
  • 92% of employers view providing CGT benefits as “the right thing to do.
  • Stop Loss (SL) coverage was the strongest predictor of CGT adoption. Organizations with confirmed SL coverage implement CGT benefits at significantly higher rates.
  • Knowledge levels, particularly around the understanding of CGTs, have the strongest association with adoption readiness.
  • Organizations with strong ethical frameworks demonstrate higher CGT adoption rates, with 70% of high-ethics organizations reporting strong CGT-value alignment, compared to 45% in organizations with weaker ethical structures.
  • Successful GLP-1 receptor agonist adoption correlates strongly with CGT adoption readiness suggesting that experience with novel therapy integration builds organizational capacity.
