About MBGH

The Chicago based, Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH) was founded in January 1980 by a small group of large Midwest employers to help all types of purchasers - employers and their employees - obtain more value from their health care benefit dollars.

Today, MBGH is one of the nation's leading coalitions of private and public employers. MBGH's 90+ members cover over 2 million lives, spending greater than $2.5 billion on health care benefits.

Organized as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), MBGH offers employers a variety of health benefit educational seminars, networking opportunities, and benefit strategy demonstration projects.

MBGH has an affiliate organization, the Midwest Health Purchasers Foundation (MHPF), that offers employers the opportunity to gain access to group purchasing programs for various health benefits, including Chicago HMOs, disease management, incentive programs, pharmacy benefits, wellness and health management services and products, and audit services.

In the Chicago metropolitan area, MBGH works with all segments of the local health care industry to improve the quality and safety of health care services and to find workable solutions to common problems of the community.
