Initiatives

For over 36 years, MBGH has been a leader in conducting applied research initiatives designed to gauge the impact of innovative health benefit tools and strategies and to provide solutions that support employer improvement efforts to manage the health of their populations. MBGH also focuses effort in the community and has developed a stakeholder collaboration improvement model that has successfully brought together members from the business, hospital, physician, health plan, government, consumer, and voluntary association sectors to support improved health and quality of care. 

Health Benefits Research

Managing Specialty Drugs

Bringing forth the employer perspective to support more effective partnerships with PBMs, address contract transparency issues and develop benefit strategies focused on optimal patient outcomes

Using Data for Benefit Design

Supporting employers to evaluate their company’s benefit design strategies and programs through a continuous improvement process approach focused on improving population health and health care costs

Improving the Value of Benefits

A multi-year project focused on the value-based benefit design approach and a series of focus groups to determine the triggers and barriers to engaging in health and wellness programs

Doctor Perspectives of Worksite Programs

A national survey of physician views on employers’ health management programs to better understand and improve the effectiveness of employer-based health improvement and management programs

Measuring Productivity (HPQ)

Quantifying the importance of accounting for the total cost of employee health reveals the loss of productivity and costs due to health issues. Prioritizing and evaluating interventions, policies and benefit plan designs improve productivity and increase the bottom line

Ensuring Appropriate Medical Care

MBGH is a national partner in The Choosing Wisely initiative that is focused on helping patients identify when screenings, tests and procedures are appropriate for them. MBGH is a partner with Consumer Reports in providing the Choosing Wisely materials to employers for their use.

Improving Patient Safety

Since 2006, MBGH has served as the Illinois Regional Roll-out Leader for the national Leapfrog Group on patient safety. See how MBGH promotes and works with hospitals and how employers can use this information to improve patient safety for their populations.

Improving Maternity Care

Consumer/Employer Health Awareness

Improving health awareness reduces costs for employers. This initiative provides information for consumers to increase their health awareness through a variety of resources on several different health issues

Reducing the Cost of Poor Quality

Over expenditure in the health care system directly increases the costs employers face. An explanation of this dynamic is offered and has led to several campaigns to reduce health care costs
