Price transparency, vendor accountability, and employer role as a fiduciary among the discussion at May 6-7 event
CHICAGO – April 9, 2025 – Illusion vs Reality: Achieving Truth, Trust & Transparency in Health Care Benefits is the theme for this year’s 45th annual conference hosted by the Midwest Business Group on Health at the JW Marriott Chicago, May 6-7.
Keynote speakers include:
- Sherri Samuels-Fuerst, Vice President, Total Rewards, Sargento Foods
- Charles B. Williams, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Lockheed Martin Corporation
- Lynn Hanessian, Former Chief Science Strategist, Edelman
- Rachel Hall, Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting
- Mandy O’Neill, Associate Professor of Management, George Mason University Costello College of Business
“Given health care is the second greatest expense for most employers outside of payroll, the stakes are high to ensure they get the greatest value from their benefit partners and unfortunately that is not always the case,” said Cheryl Larson, MBGH president and CEO. “The robust discussions shared at our annual conference will help employers see through the illusion and lift the veil to learn strategies and insist on integrity and price transparency from their health benefit partners.”
Among the topics of discussion:
- Drive market transformation and policy reform to safeguard employers under the CAA and ERISA
- Ensure the future viability of health benefits by holding partners accountable – carriers, third-party administrators, benefits consultants, brokers, pharmacy benefit managers, other intermediaries
- Advance new legislation that enables price transparency and mutual responsibility to fulfill employer fiduciary duties effectively
- Accelerate transparency to ensure equitable and balanced compensation for services and providers of care
- Confront conventional norms and identify pathways to productive and collaborative vendor relationships.
