Initiatives

For 43 years, MBGH has been a leader in conducting applied research initiatives designed to gauge the impact of innovative health benefit tools and strategies and to provide solutions that support employer improvement efforts to manage the health of their populations. MBGH also focuses effort in the community and has developed a stakeholder collaboration improvement model that has successfully brought together members from the business, hospital, physician, health plan, government, consumer, and voluntary association sectors to support improved health and quality of care.

Diabetes Action Plan

The Illinois Department of Public Health developed a Diabetes Action Plan engaging MBGH as one of the many stakeholders to support the development of goals and implementing strategies to improve the health of the community.

Improving Patient Safety

Midwest Business Group on Health is the Illinois Regional Leader for The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit organization which serves as the employers’ local and national voice on hospital and ambulatory surgical centers' quality and patient safety.

Reducing the Cost of Poor Quality

Over-expenditure in the health care system directly increases the costs employers face. An explanation of this dynamic is offered and has led to several campaigns to reduce health care costs.

Improving Maternity Care

MBGH has created materials for employers and their populations to reduce unnecessary C-sections and inductions. View the materials and why this is important to employers.

Consumer/Employer Health Awareness

Improving health awareness reduces costs for employers. This initiative provides information for consumers to increase their health awareness through a variety of resources on several different health issues.
