September 11, 2025 Fiduciary Check-Up: How to Effectively Monitor Vendor Partners

In this roundtable session, we explored ways that self-funded employer plan sponsors can effectively monitor vendor partners, such as PBMs, TPAs and consultants. As with most services, the relationship starts with the contract. We discussed contractual areas of weakness, including limited audit rights and access to data, and how to overcome those potential obstacles. The session also delved into the RFP process and market checks, and how to deal with a vendor partner that is secretly compensating itself or otherwise breaching its obligations and responsibilities.

August 14, 2025 It's Not Personal, It's Just Healthcare: Documentary Viewing & Insights

Employers joined us to view a powerful documentary titled It's Not Personal, It's Just Healthcare. The film is produced by iPlanRx and is an eye-opening dive into the core of the healthcare system, exposing its corruption and brokenness. From escalating costs to prioritizing profits over patient well-being, it uncovers the harsh realities faced by individuals navigating a system where healthcare often feels more like a business than a fundamental right. A discussion of the insights with two of the producers was enlightening. Attendees received a special access link to the full one-hour version of the documentary too. View trailer

June 12, 2025 Learnings & Insights on Healthcare Consumption and Benefits Design

Andrew Gordon, LSW, Researcher from Princeton University led this call where we heard insights from benefits leaders across the country based on extensive research on how employees make healthcare decisions based on what they truly value: convenience, affordability, and trust in quality care—not just price. The research includes employee interviews, employer surveys, and expert insights on unpacking the key factors that influence healthcare choices today. Employers shared why price transparency without quality transparency falls short, how outdated cost structures and confusing benefits language are eroding trust, and why real affordability goes beyond simply offering coverage. We also discussed why leading purchasers believe competition—not consolidation—is the path forward for better outcomes and cost control. Attendees heard how to align their benefits strategy with employee expectations—and move from complexity to clarity. Link to roundtable summary.
